 | | | Water Moves from High to Low Water Potential
An area with a high concentration of water molecules has high water potential. An area with a low concentration of water molecules has low water potential. In other words, water will tend to move into an area where the water potential is low, from an area where water potential is high.
This movement is attributable to osmosis; therefore, water potential is a measure of the degree to which osmosis occurs. |
